Preparing for your Portrait Session

Make a great first impression.

Portraits with character.

  • Dress for your brand.

Start with neutral tones for your first layer, then add pops of colour that align with your company’s brand. Dress like you were meeting a client.

  • Keep hair neat & tidy.

Keep hair clean and neatly brushed whether down or tied back. Use a little hair spray or gel to prevent fly aways.

  • Be you.

Make up is optional. If you wear some when meeting clients, feel free to come make up ready. If you sport a more natural look, go with that but do bring some chapstick as this goes a long way. Don’t forget to have fun and be you!

The (home) Studio.

My home studio is located in North Burnaby conveniently by Brentwood Skytrain Station. Walk a couple blocks East along Lougheed Highway until you reach Beta and you’re there. If you’re driving, there is street parking available along Beta or Dawson.

The home studio includes white, grey and black backdrops as well as great outdoor settings in the Brentwood Area with both greenery and urban natural backgrounds.

See below for Address.

The studio dog.

The studio has a dog. His name is Pixel. He is a photo-pup-in-training and will be around to help make you feel comfortable during your session. :)

I was a bit nervous at the beginning, but Jamie made the experience so enjoyable by making me feel relaxed and at ease in front of the camera. The photos turned out so beautiful!! She truly captured my personality in the excellent retouched photos for both my professional and personal brand. It was one of the best photographer experiences I’ve had and I would highly recommend Jamie for your personal and professional headshots!

FAQs

What should I wear?

Dress as if you were meeting a client. Consider your company’s dress code guidelines. Keep shirt colours light and neutral in colour then add on layers of colour and darker tones such as a suit jacket, blazer or cardigan. If you are having full body images taken, be sure to wear proper footwear.

Does your rate include editing and retouching?

Yes. All sessions will include a curated gallery of proofs (roughly 10-15 images) for you to choose from. From there, you can select your 1 -3 images of choice which will get edited and retouched depending on which package you’ve opted for.

What are the photo styles?

Standard headshots are captured in studio on a white, grey or black backdrop.

Hybrid headshots are captured in a similar fashion with a studio session on white, grey or black backdrop with the option of outdoor images if that is the look you’re going for (Weather dependent). We also work through some more relaxed expressions and poses for your personal look.

How will I receive my final files?

All final files are delivered through an online digital gallery. Files are delivered in jpeg format. Headshots are 4”x5”, at 300dpi.

Do you offer outdoor portraits?

Yes! We can discuss what type of environment or backgrounds you’re interested in seeing for your portraits. If you’re looking for more than one look, a Personality Portrait Session is ideal.
