Preparing for your pet portrait session
Get excited for your session.
What to bring
Your pet’s favourite treats - Don’t overfeed your pet before your session as we want their treats to work in our favour. I will have some single ingredient treats available as well, but do let me know if your pet has any allergies.
Your pet’s favourite toy (if they’re toy driven) - If they have that one toy they love the most, bring that along.
Your pet’s brush - If they have longer hair, we may do a little brush before their session :)
Things to note
Scent-Free Zone - Avoid wearing any strong scents as some dogs (and hoomans) may be sensitive.
Keep your pet leashed or in a carrier - Please keep your pet leashed or in their carrier until we’re ready to begin their session.
Flash lighting - I use flash lighting to photograph your pet. If they are scared, we may switch to continuous lighting. We will do our best to make sure we are able to get some nice photos with minimal stress to your pet.
Potty - Please bring your dog to go potty before arriving at your session.
One at a time - If you are part of a group session, please be mindful of your session time and let us know if your pet/dog requires space to avoid any unnecessary stress.
Toys/Noise makers/Treats - I will have these on hand. If you prefer to use your own treats, this is no problem at all. Please try to avoid overfeeding and overusing squeakers or toys until we start photographing.
Hair & “Make Up”
Grooming - Just like us, our dogs may go in for haircuts and grooming sessions. For pets with longer or curly fur, this can help get hair away from their eyes which make for great portraits. If your dog has naturally long hair and you like it that way, come as you are!
Your pet’s health and safety are my priority during this session. Being around people, cameras, and lighting may not be very normal for your dog, so we will do our best to create a positive environment and experience for them. I look forward to creating some lovely portraits!
